Evaluating a VSP ProTec alternative starts with the benefit you already have. This guide helps safety, HR and procurement teams compare plan coverage with a directly configured employer eyewear program before changing how employees obtain their safety glasses.

Start with the actual ProTec benefit

VSP's ProTec Safety Enhancements notice describes a frame from the ProTec collection covered in full or an allowance toward another ANSI-rated safety frame. It says the enhancement extends to most members, not all. Confirm the employee's current plan and provider arrangements directly with VSP. Read VSP's notice.

A CHAOSRXOptics employer program has its own agreed assortment, eligibility and payment rules. This page does not establish that CHAOSRXOptics accepts VSP benefits or that a CHAOS order qualifies for reimbursement. Obtain confirmation before directing an employee to use a benefit or incur a charge.

A benefit-to-order checklist

  1. Coverage and frame choice: obtain the current plan documents and identify the collection or allowance route that applies. Compare that scope with the proposed CHAOS frame and lens assortment. Do not compare a frame allowance with a complete pair without checking what each includes.
  2. Prescription intake and fitting: ask who receives the prescription, checks its usability and obtains any additional measurements. Confirm whether an eye examination is a separate service, who schedules it and who pays. A current prescription and a new examination are different line items.
  3. Ordering and payment: map the employee's first step, eligibility check, approval and any out-of-pocket payment for each proposal. Confirm provider participation, claim handling and reimbursement terms with VSP; agree employer invoicing or checkout rules directly with CHAOS.
  4. Fulfillment: request the production start trigger, delivery destination, tracking contact and process for an incomplete prescription. Compare the same lens type and delivery requirements; do not assume identical turnaround.
  5. Support: identify who owns fit questions, adjustments, remakes and billing corrections. Ask how an unresolved case moves between the employer, provider and program contact.

Compare complete scopes before changing programs

Ask both prospective program contacts to respond to the same written specification: eligible population, work requirements, frame selection, lens types, measurements, examination scope, employee upgrades, shipping, replacement rules and support responsibilities. Record exclusions and renewal terms separately. If retaining an existing vision benefit alongside a CHAOS program, document which path employees should use and who authorizes exceptions.

How CHAOSRXOptics handles the order

CHAOSRXOptics offers a private employer portal with an agreed frame and lens assortment, eligibility rules and allowances. Employees can use a current prescription from any eye doctor. Additional prescription measurements are coordinated directly. Virtual sizing helps compare supported frames; sample kits and optional on-site Sit & Fit visits depend on availability, site access and measurement needs. No kiosk or on-site event is required.

The employer chooses monthly company invoicing (Net terms available) or payment at checkout. Covered pairs do not require employee payment at checkout; employee-paid upgrades depend on the agreed program. Shipping can go to a home, office, shop or job site. Reporting fields, access and cadence are agreed before launch. See our corporate program details for scope and contact options.

Check each selected product's stated ANSI rating and suitability for the work. Eyewear is imported. Virtual sizing does not replace any prescription measurements needed to complete an order.

Frequently asked questions

Is ProTec limited to its own frame collection?

VSP describes a collection option and an allowance toward another ANSI-rated safety frame for most members. Confirm which option applies under the current plan.

Does this mean CHAOSRXOptics accepts VSP benefits?

No. This comparison does not establish VSP benefit acceptance or reimbursement for a CHAOS order. Confirm those arrangements before ordering.

Can employees bring an existing prescription to CHAOSRXOptics?

Employees can use a current prescription from any eye doctor. CHAOS coordinates any additional prescription measurements directly.

Does a CHAOS program require an on-site event?

No. Optional on-site fitting depends on availability and site needs. Virtual sizing is available for supported frames, and additional prescription measurements may still be needed.

What should a matched proposal include?

Use the same eligibility, frame and lens scope, examination assumptions, fitting needs, payment rules, shipping destinations and support responsibilities for each proposal.
